The history of rock music in Nepal dates back to the 70s when there were a few acts influenced by Western bands such as The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and later, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden and Bob Marley. Bands in Kathmandu got close with the hippies around the world to the extent that guitars and records were bought from them. These days, metal, jazz and blues has been highly appreciated by the Nepali music lovers. Rock, blues, jazz and metal are evolving in Nepal with much improvement in quality and performance.
