There may be hardly a few from the late ’60s or ’70s who does not recognize Dev Rana. An iconic drummer “Dev Rana” has been rocking Nepali music scenarios for 5 decades now. He is currently 69 years old and still rocking like good old days and still is not ready to retire at all.

He started music when he was just 11 years old, he got introduced to it as an extracurricular activity in school and slowly fell in love with it. As he is recognized as a drummer widely but only a few know that the first instrument he played was a guitar.

He started a musical journey in Nepal back in the ’60s for the first time with his fellow friends forming a band named “The Road”. In 1980, Rana joined another band, The Prism. The Prism is the first Nepali band that started playing music professionally while they played at the Soaltee Hotel for many years.

While his friend is enjoying their retirement, Rana is still freelancing as a drummer here and there as his soul lives for that as per him. He also judges a Nepali reality show “Band Champion Nepal” along with fellow musicians “Robin Tamang” and “Jyoti Ghimire”.
