Phospenes, peak catching Nepali Indie band which was basically the brainchild of Aman Karna announced that he is leaving the band Afterall.
The artist made such an announcement through his social media account. He writes
“This is an announcement to let you know that I am no longer associated with Phosphenes.
I joined the band in 2017 with a vision to make music and take the band to a higher ground and I believe I have given everything I possibly could, which I hope is evident to everyone who has been with us through the journey.
After working with the core members for just the initial couple of years I had a lot of struggles to bring everyone on the same page. From managing session musicians to long term musicians who played with the band, to organising shows, taking up financial duties, maintaining professional relations with venues/organisers, always sorting out technical issues, increasing the band charges throughout the years and making sure everyone is getting paid better than what they expected. Throughout this journey I might have come off as being bitter and difficult to work with to a lot of people, organisers and my close friends as well, just so that the band would not have to compromise on anything.
Despite doing all of this, I always felt that I was not acknowledged enough for the things I did and felt more like an accessory than a part of the band; like I was helping fulfill someone else’s personal dream.
In the past couple of years, the process started being tedious and it started affecting my mental as well as physical health to a point where I felt it wasn’t worth it to be working with the band.
Regardless, we have mutually agreed to part ways. I hope the best for the future of the band.
As always I will still be making music with the same passion and energy and I hope you all will come along on my journey. 🫶🏽”
As I have been writing an article same year they formed a band, I still remember writing an article about their Sofar Kathmandu’s intimate show. since then I vividly remember Aman being so crazily involved in or for the band. He was so down to earth yet strictly professional. Its sad that he is leaving. Just like singer, songwriter “Diwas Gurung” commented on his confession post “Its end of an era” basically.
Nevertheless, he already has started his solo carrier, he wish the artist all the very best for the future. we will always be the fan. Listen to his solo EP “Bollymood” if you haven’t till now.
