Kathmandu- Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, one of South Asia’s most well-known singers, passed away one year ago today. He is also Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s uncle and guru and is responsible for such wonderful songs as Afreen Afreen, Mast Qalandar, Saanson ki Mala, Mere Rashke Qamar, etc.
The late Pakistani singer, songwriter, and music director Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan PP. He specialised in singing the Sufi devotional melody known as qawwali. According to The New York Times, he is frequently referred to as the “Shahenshah-e-Qawwali” and is the best qawwali singer of his time.
